EPD data now visible in the Building Material Scout database

LCA und EPD-Daten für die CLIMAFLEX naturefoam Rohrisolierung von NMC.

You can now easily view information on LCA and CO₂ balance in the product database.

Keeping the carbon footprint low is fundamental to achieving climate targets, which is why it is essential for sustainable project planning to know the CO₂ value of the products used. That’s why we recently introduced a new feature for the BMS database: The EPD data display. These are then used to automatically determine the carbon footprint of a product. This shows exactly how much CO₂ a building product pollutes the environment during its service life. The data from the Environmental Product Declaration is also essential for realistically assessing the environmental impact of a building material in the planned building, as it contains all the information, properties and environmental influences for a product.

EPD data integration for manufacturers

In order to make this data visible to users, we naturally need the support of the manufacturers. They now have the option of storing the EPD data for their products in the product information. Based on this data, the respective CO₂ characteristic value is then output in the product area at BMS.

Providing these values at an early stage will make construction products even more attractive for those responsible for building. As the CO₂ value becomes increasingly relevant, the only manufacturers that will soon play a role for planners and managers will be those that provide this information. Planning without looking at the CO₂ value will soon no longer be sustainable. Of course, the time saved is also a big plus point: the tedious task of collecting and evaluating product data sheets is no longer necessary if the required information is clearly stored in the database.
