Wood from here ® Ecolabel (HVH)
The HOLZ VON HIER®(HVH) eco-label is an international type 1 eco-label, compliant with ISO 14024, and is monitored by TÜV and in accordance with the IT standard PS 880 of the German Institute of Auditors. It records and documents the flow of goods of individual products in real time.
HVH is developed with stakeholder participation, externally monitored, neutral, transparent and has high quality standards. In non-German-speaking EU countries it is called LOW CARBON TIMBER®, with the same criteria and control processes.
Hol von Hier ® Ecolabel wood is suitable for the following product groups:
- Timber:
Beams, boards, squared timber, etc. - Furniture:
Tables, chairs, cupboards, beds, etc. - Wood-based materials:
Plywood, chipboard, MDF boards, etc. - Prefabricated houses:
Completely prefabricated houses or parts thereof. - Interior fittings:
Parquet, floorboards, wall and ceiling cladding, stairs, etc. - Gardening and landscaping:
Fences, garden furniture, pergolas, carports, etc. - Wooden toys:
Various types of toys and play equipment made of wood. - Pellets and firewood:
Wood used for heating purposes
Award criteria for HVH® sustainability certification
The award criteria for the Holz von Hier certificate are:
- Transportation from the forest to the customer must be kept as short as possible along the entire supply chain and thus climate-friendly and resource-efficient.
- The raw materials come 100% from sustainable forestry (proof of FSC, PEFC or forest management certificates required)
- Products that do not contain wood from primary forests (low carbon timber)
- Wood that does not correspond to endangered species according to IUCN or CITES
HVH® : Certification body
The HOLZ VON HIER® label may be awarded by authorized certification bodies that are approved and monitored by TÜV and in accordance with the IT standard PS 880 of the German Institute of Auditors
Costs for HVH® certification
The costs for awarding the “Holz von Hier” label are relatively low and easy to manage even for smaller craft businesses. The exact amount may vary, so it is recommended to contact the organization directly for detailed information
Is the HVH® label mandatory?
It is a voluntary environmental label that companies can use to label the sustainability and regional origin of their wood products. Companies that meet the relevant criteria and undergo certification can use the label to demonstrate compliance with high environmental standards to their customers.
Recognition of the Holz von Hier ® eco-label for certification systems
The HOLZ VON HIER® certification is accepted and recognized by various recognized certification systems. In particular, it is recognized by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the ENV1.3 criterion. This recognition supports proof of the sustainability and climate friendliness of wood products in construction projects and public tenders.
